Hi! I’m Kate Notwell, holistic & culinary nutritionist and founder of Get Well Co. I started this company to educate and help people live a holistic lifestyle. I believe in and spread the word about the power of nutrition, the importance of real self-care, and how we can incorporate a love for the planet into our lives every single day. I am certain that what we eat is the single most important factor in determining our health.
My passions include FOOD, recipe development, food photography, writing and public speaking. My hobbies include yoga, running, swimming, reading and eating. I have high functioning anxiety, am an extreme extrovert, and LOVE human interaction. I am a part-time bar supervisor with a love for wine, beer and bourbon because you’ve got to live a little lol! I am an avid faster, live a low carb life, and believe that sometimes you gotta cheat 🙂
My specialties include female hormone balancing, blood sugar balancing including helping those with insulin resistance, diabetes, metabolic disorder and Alzheimer’s disease, and mental health issues. I am a Low Carb and Fasting coach as well.
Get Well Co. services include both private and group cooking classes, workshops and nutrition consultations, small group catering, and plans to expand into meal prep and weekly meal services.

How I Got Here
My journey to becoming a nutritionist started with my own journey to better my health holistically. I was diagnosed with polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) when I was 30 and was offered pharmaceutical drugs as a solution. PCOS is a hormone imbalance that can cause fertility, mental health issues, and metabolic disorders, and it is so common that 1 in 10 women have it to some degree. I won’t even take Advil or Tylenol, so taking drugs daily just didn’t work for me. I had also been on the birth control pill since I was 15 to manage my symptoms, which included ovarian cysts, irregular and very painful periods, obesity, and inflammation to name a few. In fact, before I knew what was happening in my body, I always struggled with weight, not sure why I could never keep it off, and at my heaviest, I weighed in at 250lbs. I was in constant pain, suffered from depression and anxiety, had incredibly low self-esteem, and used food, drugs, and alcohol to medicate and find comfort. I was physically and mentally lost and knew that I needed to figure something out to save my life.
I began researching ways to deal with PCOS and learned that through specialized nutrition, supplementation and proper exercise, my symptoms could be managed without the pill or other medications. I implemented these practices and wanted to share my knowledge with other women who were struggling. Plus, more and more research was pointing to the birth control pill causing strokes in young women, so this solution for managing symptoms of hormone imbalance was just downright dangerous. My research led me to The Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where I earned my designation as a Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP) and immediately opened a clinical practice. I joined the Canadian Association of Natural Nutrition Practitioners to become a Natural Nutrition Counselling Practitioner (NNCP).
